In the period of Emperor Suinin the enshrinement of the guardian volcano goddess, ‘Konohana Sakuya Hime,’ was begun by imperial edict. Important cultural properties on site include the main shrine, characteristic of the Momoyama period, the Nishimiya Shrine, and the Crown Prince Shrine, which was constructed by Takeda Shingen.

Reopened after a large scale renovation in April 2015, the Fujisan Museum has been reborn, incorporating cutting-edge projection mapping technology to bring Mt. Fuji to life in a fun and innovative learning environment. Naturally full of information regarding Fujiyoshida City’s history, folk culture and industry, the museum also contains a wealth of content dedicated to Mt. Fuji’s multifaceted appeal including its spiritual significance and various associated deities.

This art museum features a variety of paintings of Mt. Fuji by well known artists of modern times. Inside the spacious interior of the museum museum goods shop and a café are also available.

The largest of the Fuji Five Lakes, with a direct view of Mt. Fuji. Elegant swans glide across the surface of the lake, where watersports such as wakeboarding,waterskiing and šshing can all be enjoyed. You can even try Wakasagi (lake smelt) fishing from a domed boat.

Offering an unbroken view of Mt.Fuji and the lake,“Yamanakako Community Plaza” is a comprehensive park for cultural exchange, featuring an artificially turfed soccer field, a tennis court, a multi-purpose athletic field complete with fixtures such as nighttime lighting, a hydrophilic ˜flower garden featuring hands-on environmental learning, an outdoor stage, and more.

The admission price at Hana no Miyako Park gives you complete access, not only to the admission-free outdoor flower field but to admission-paid facilities as well. Includes ‘Furara’ (a year-round greenhouse) and the clearwater village.

A literary forest which sits amidst the natural stillness of Lake Yamanakako. Along the paths, which are dotted with stone slabs inscribed with haiku by poets and literary šgures connected to Lake Yamanakako, are attractions such as the Soho Tokutomi Museum or the Yukio Mishima Museum, where handwritten manuscripts and other precious documents are on display.

Eight spring water ponds created by underground water of Mt. Fuji, which is designatedas one of 100 Best Natural Waters in Japan. These ponds, as the pilgrimage sites of Mt.Fuji worship, enshrining “Hachidai-Ryuo,” and all of eight ponds are registered asperiferal assets of the World Heritage Mt. Fuji.
